Colore Dolce
Colore Dolce (meaning "Sweet Color") is a treble (SSAA) choir - participation is by invitation only. The choir was formed in 2014, five years after Mr. Thorpe began his tenure as Director of Choral Activities. Composed of approximately 40 young women, grades 9-12, Colore Dolce performs in seasonal concerts and competitions to share their "sweet colors" with the community.
In the three seasons since the COVID pandemic, the choir has participated in five competitions, consistently receiving superior ratings and bringing home first place trophies. In 2023, after a season of hard work, Colore Dolce participated in the OrlandoFest Music Competition in Orlando, FL earning first place in their category, the Outstanding Soloist award, and the Overall Grand Champion Award.
Music performed by the choir covers many styles and periods and ranges in difficulty from III-VI based on the VCDA rating system. Attendance at all concerts and special performances is required. Choral members are encouraged to audition for and participate in VMEA Honors Choir, District Chorus, and the All-Virginia Chorus.
