Mixed/Concert Choirs
The Mixed and Concert Choirs are Soprano, Alto, Tenor, and Bass (SATB) choirs. The Concert Choir is open to all students, with/without prior choral experience. The Mixed Choir is essentially the Concert Choir with some members of the Advanced Choir “mixed in.” Students are provided the opportunity to concentrate on the varying demands of vocal technique for each piece of repertoire that is studied.
Music performed by these choirs covers a wide range of historical periods and styles. Difficulty ranges from Grades II to IV of the Virginia Choral Directors’ Association (VCDA) rating system. Choir members are expected to perform in the Winter, Pyramid, and Spring Concerts and also participate in local/district festivals as determined by the director.
